Further expanding its portfolio, FreightCar America provides coal cars, general bulk commodity cars, coil steel cars, boxcars, woodchip hoppers, aluminum vehicle carriers, and articulated bulk container railcars. In addition to manufacturing new railcars, the company engages in selling used railcars, offering leasing options, and performing railcar rebuilding and conversion services. It also supplies various forged, cast, and fabricated parts for railcar applications. FreightCar America's manufactured railcars are exported to international markets, including Latin America and the Middle East. Its primary customer base comprises financial institutions, major railroads, and various shipping companies. FreightCar America, Inc. was founded in 1901 and its corporate headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois.
