This segment is also actively involved in the merchandising of various commodities and provides logistical support for the physical movement of goods like whole grains, processed grain products, animal feed components, domestic fuels, and a range of other agricultural goods. The Renewables division focuses on the production, procurement, and sale of ethanol and its related by-products. It further extends its expertise by providing operational management, risk assessment, and marketing solutions for ethanol and co-products to the processing plants in which it holds investments or directly manages. The Plant Nutrient segment is responsible for the manufacturing, distribution, and retail sales of agricultural and other plant nutritional products, including those derived from corncobs, as well as pelleted lime and gypsum. It also supplies crop nutrients, crop protection agents, and seeds, complemented by professional application and agronomic consulting services tailored for both commercial enterprises and family farms. Additionally, this segment provides warehousing, packaging, and manufacturing support to nutrient manufacturers and other distributors. Its industrial product portfolio encompasses nitrogen reagents used in air pollution control systems for facilities like coal-fired power plants, alongside water treatment and dust suppression agents. Further expanding its offerings, this division produces corncob-based materials for applications such as laboratory animal bedding, private-label cat litter, and a range of absorbents, blast cleaning agents, carriers, and polishing compounds. It also caters to the professional landscaping and turf care markets with products for golf courses, provides fertilizers, weed and pest control solutions, enhanced pelleted lime, gypsum, and other beneficial soil amendments, as well as specialized agricultural liquids, including seed starters, zinc supplements, and industrial-grade liquid formulations. Established in 1947, The Andersons, Inc. maintains its corporate headquarters in Maumee, Ohio.
