Management remarks
Call period: 2026 Q3 · 2026-10-20
Guidance: Herbert C. Nappier: For the full year, we now expect diluted earnings per share which includes the expenses related to our restructuring efforts and year to date separation costs, to be in the range of $5.60 to $5.85.
Demand and orders: William Stengel: Looking at the comparable sales performance of NAPA to the end which includes our company owned sales as well as the sales out to the end customer from our independent stores, the NAPA system delivered sales growth of 3% in the third quarter.
Margins: Herbert C. Nappier: For the quarter, total adjusted EBITDA increased 4% with adjusted EBITDA margin of 8.4%, flat versus prior year, as the benefits from our gross margin expansion and restructuring activities were offset by higher SG and A expenses, driven by cost inflation including the impacts of the Iran conflict.
Analyst Q&A
Analyst Michael Lasser asked: So with 1.7%, yet even as margin declined 40 basis points How much of the disconnect is transitory cost pressure versus a structural change in the earnings power of the business? Management Herbert C. Nappier answered: I will take that 1. Just a frame the North American EBITDA margin pressure. that is a $6 million absolute decrease in EBITDA year over year driving the 40 basis point decline And I think the impact is precisely to your question. it is SG and A, and it is related to the inflation we are feeling from the Iran conflict. We had increases in freight, fuel, and rent that totaled $15 million year over year. that is on the back of fuel. As I said in my prepared remarks, diesel is up 50% year over year. US unleaded is up 30%. And that is driving that increase.
